Skyscrapers

The rules

• Every height appears exactly once in each row and each column.
• A number at the edge says how many buildings are visible from that side.
• A taller building hides every shorter one behind it.
• A 5×5 grid uses heights 1 to 5.

Where to start

The extreme clues are free. A 1 means the tallest building stands right at that edge. A clue equal to the grid size means the row climbs in order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Fill those rows first, then use them to constrain the columns they cross.

The usual mistake

A clue of 2 does not mean the second building is tall — it means exactly one building blocks the view of all the rest. Counting visibility, not positions, is the whole skill.

Every puzzle has exactly one solution

Each skyscrapers in Puzelo is checked by a solver written separately from the generator, using a different method. A puzzle is only published if that independent solver finds exactly one solution — so you never need to guess, and the answer we print is never wrong.
